In July 2025, large-scale disinfection (disinsection) measures against mosquitoes and other harmful insects continue in Shymkent. These works are being carried out in stages in accordance with the approved schedule of the city administration and sanitary safety requirements. Currently, disinfection is actively carried out in parks, flower beds, along ditches and canals, and near residential buildings. Disinsection measures have been intensified in particular in the Tassai, Karatau, Al-Farabi districts and settlements on the outskirts of the city.

The main goal of these works is to protect the health of the population and prevent infectious diseases transmitted by mosquitoes and other insects. In particular, ARVI, malaria, dengue fever and other vector-borne diseases are now more common due to climate change and increased rainfall. In this regard, the city administration and sanitary and epidemiological services have taken systematic disinsection measures to identify pest outbreaks early.

The substances used in disinfection are specially certified and safe for humans and animals, but residents in the treated areas are required to take precautions. For example, specialists ask not to allow children to play in the treated areas, not to let pets into the area, and to ensure that household items do not come into contact with the disinfected area. In addition, each citizen can keep his yard clean and, if necessary, carry out disinfestation at his own expense. This increases the responsibility of residents to prevent the spread of pests.

As experts note, for the work to be qualitative and effective, residents need their own activity and understanding. This is because harmful insects, especially mosquitoes, often breed in stagnant, swampy, and neglected areas. And such areas can also be found in residents' own yards. In this regard, eliminating stagnant water in their yards, turning empty containers upside down, and draining basements are important daily precautions.

It should be noted that such disinfection measures are carried out annually in Shymkent. For example, in 2023, large-scale disinsection was carried out twice in the city in the spring and summer. Even then, chemical treatments were carried out against the reproduction of mosquitoes and midges, covering more than 10 thousand hectares. And in 2024, due to the prolonged rainy season and a sharp increase in the number of mosquitoes and flies, the akimat provided additional funding for the treatment work and increased it to three stages.

As the experience of these years shows, the work of state institutions alone is not enough - the activity of residents and business entities is also needed. The sanitary condition of the city depends not only on local authorities, but on every city resident. To this end, in 2025, informational memos for residents will be distributed, and warning messages will be sent via television, radio, and social networks.

Another innovation of the current disinfection campaign is geolocation monitoring. With the help of special mobile applications and drones, contaminated areas are precisely marked and effective treatment algorithms are applied. This technological innovation ensures that treatment is not repeated, saves time, and does not overuse toxic substances.

In conclusion, the ongoing pest control work in Shymkent is not just a seasonal measure, but an important preventive measure that directly affects the quality of life of residents. Taking into account the experience of previous years, the innovations implemented this year and the activity of residents will undoubtedly contribute to the effectiveness of this work. The most important thing is that city residents should contribute to maintaining sanitary cleanliness and preventing danger.
