On June 30 of this year, amendments were made to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the Prevention of Offenses,” according to which wearing clothing that interferes with facial recognition is prohibited in public places.

This means a ban on wearing the niqab, various masks, balaclavas and other accessories that cover the face in public places.
This restriction does not apply to medical masks.

The decision taken does not restrict the rights of citizens, as it is aimed at ensuring public safety and order.
