On August 7, 2025, in Shymkent, in the Abay district, on the territory of the rural settlements of Altyntobe and Yntymak, a major preventive action was held aimed at protecting farm animals from particularly dangerous infections. Local veterinary services carried out scheduled vaccination of cattle, small cattle, and horses, while simultaneously organizing the disinfection of farm buildings and pens.
The agro-industrial sector plays a vital role in the economy of Shymkent and the entire Turkestan region. Animal diseases can cause serious damage: from death and reduced productivity to threats to food security and the emergence of diseases that can be transmitted to humans. This is why preventive measures are key. Vaccination and sanitation not only reduce the risk of disease outbreaks, but also maintain animal health, increase their productivity and ensure the stability of agricultural production.
On this day, mobile groups of veterinarians began to go around the yards from early morning. They checked the condition of the animals, gave them the necessary vaccinations and treated the premises with disinfectants. Each individual received a preparation corresponding to its species and age. Modern safe preparations that destroy viruses, bacteria and fungi were used for treatment. Particular attention was paid to those places where there is the greatest probability of accumulation of pathogenic microorganisms, including feed storage areas.
At the same time, veterinary specialists held talks with animal owners. They reminded them of the importance of cleanliness in pens and stalls, regular cleaning, quality feeding and timely detection of signs of disease. It was emphasized that caring for the health of livestock is a joint effort of veterinary services and the owners themselves, and the result is achieved only with full cooperation and compliance with all recommendations.
The campaign has become an example of how the approach to prevention has changed in recent years. If earlier such events were often held centrally at specially designated points where the animal had to be brought, now veterinary teams go to each yard, which significantly increases coverage. This is especially important for remote or small farms, whose owners for various reasons could not always participate in previous vaccination formats. Now the barrier in the form of distance and limited time has been practically eliminated.
Unlike previous years, the population was informed in advance and actively. Announcements in local media, posts on social networks, information through rural akimats and elders were used. This allowed all livestock owners to be warned in time and animals to be prepared for inspection and treatment. In addition, the necessary vaccine stock was ensured to avoid a situation where there was a shortage of drugs.
The positive results of such campaigns are obvious. Where vaccination and disinfection are carried out regularly, the incidence of livestock diseases is significantly lower and the economic indicators of farms are higher. Treatment costs are reduced, milk yield increases, meat quality improves, and in general farms operate more stably. For the region, this means that food security is strengthened, and residents can count on high-quality livestock products.
At the same time, problems remain. In some farms, sanitary conditions still leave much to be desired. Sometimes the reason is the lack of knowledge or time on the part of the owners, and sometimes limited financial resources. There are difficulties in delivering specialists and equipment to the most remote points. Therefore, veterinary services consider it necessary to strengthen educational work, and local authorities - to expand support for mobile teams so that coverage is maximum.
Experts are confident that such events should be carried out not only as part of seasonal plans, but also systematically, especially during periods of increased risk of infections. It is important to draw up schedules in advance taking into account the characteristics of specific territories, expand the fleet of equipment for mobile services, and develop a system of reserve stocks of vaccines and disinfectants. Another important area is the training of animal owners: the higher their awareness, the lower the risk of epizootics and the more effective any preventive measures.
The campaign held in Altyntobe and Yntymak showed that with the coordinated work of veterinarians, authorities and rural residents, a significant effect can be achieved. The level of organization of the event, its coverage and preliminary preparation were at a high level, which distinguishes it from many similar campaigns of previous years. If such practices are continued, Shymkent will be able not only to reduce the risks of diseases among animals, but also to strengthen its reputation as a region with a high level of veterinary safety and developed agriculture.
