Kazakhstan and India Discuss Launch of Inter-Parliamentary Group “Central Asia – India”

New Delhi, August 22, 2025 – In pursuit of enhanced political dialogue at the bilateral level, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to India Azamat Yeskarayev, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice of the Parliament of India Shri Brij Lal.
During the meeting, Ambassador A.Yeskarayev emphasized the significance of the strategic partnership established between Kazakhstan and India in 2009 and noted the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which is being marked this year.
The parties discussed practical ways to implement previously reached agreements, placing special focus on the initiative to establish an Inter-Parliamentary Group “Central Asia – India” within the framework of the relevant Dialogue.
The Kazakh diplomat, for his part, underlined the importance of enhancing inter-parliamentary dialogue and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to facilitate exchanges of parliamentary delegations, including cooperation within the framework of the “Friendship Group”. He also expressed interest in studying India's legislative experience and best parliamentary practices.
In response, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee Shri Brij Lal emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties as a key mechanism for deepening cooperation between Kazakhstan and India. He expressed his support for the initiative to create the Inter-Parliamentary Group and his willingness to contribute to the implementation of joint regional projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador A.Yeskarayev invited Shri Brij Lal, Member of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House of the Indian Parliament), to visit Astana for further discussions on inter-parliamentary cooperation and the expansion of bilateral collaboration.
