A meeting of the standing committees was held in the Ust-Kamenogorsk city Maslikhat, where an important issue related to creating a barrier-free environment for people with disabilities was discussed. The event was attended by representatives of local executive bodies, public figures, as well as the Chairman of the Public Council of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the head of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the East Kazakhstan region, Deputy Director of the KSU "Sports Club for People with Disabilities" and advisor to the Mayor of the city on ensuring rights and improving the quality of life persons with disabilities.

Following the meeting, recommendations were given to the responsible authorities to draw up a step-by-step plan to create a barrier-free environment in public places, institutions and the city's transport infrastructure. It was also recommended to ensure mandatory compliance with accessibility standards in the design and construction of new social and residential infrastructure facilities.

When purchasing new public transport, take into account the equipment of buses and other vehicles adapted for people with disabilities and people with limited mobility. It was also recommended that carriers organize instruction for drivers and conductors to assist people with limited mobility and people with disabilities when boarding, disembarking and moving in public transport.

Further work in this direction will be continued, taking into account the opinions and suggestions of public organizations and people with disabilities themselves.
