Key provisions of the Address of the President of Kazakhstan discussed in Latvia

Riga, September 12, 2025 – The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Latvia held a roundtable discussion dedicated to the Address of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev titled “Kazakhstan in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Current Tasks and Their Solutions Through Digital Transformation” for representatives of Latvia’s socio-political group, business community, and leading media outlets.
Opening the event, Ambassador Dauren Karipov presented the key provisions of the Address, highlighting the country’s socio-economic reforms and political transformation. He emphasized that the Head of State set forth ambitious goals for the accelerated digitalization of all spheres of life in the Republic, with a strong focus on the introduction of artificial intelligence and breakthrough technologies in the IT sector. A major element of this will be the implementation of large-scale innovation projects to create IT agglomerations and high-tech hubs.
The Kazakh diplomat also drew attention to the outlined tasks of economic diversification, construction of nuclear power plants and new generating capacities, development of transport and logistics infrastructure, and strengthening of social support measures for the population.
In this context, the Ambassador stressed that the implementation of the Address opens broad opportunities for foreign partners and investors. He invited Latvian business representatives to intensify bilateral cooperation through joint projects in the mentioned fields. This will help unlock the full potential of collaboration in priority sectors for both countries – particularly transport, logistics, and IT.
Participants of the roundtable showed keen interest in the transformations taking place in Kazakhstan and emphasized the relevance and timeliness of the issues raised by the President. Professor Yuri Maklakov of the Transport and Communications Institute specifically highlighted Kazakhstan’s existing achievements in digitalization. He noted that Kazakhstan’s experience in building digital ecosystems could be useful for academic exchange with Latvian partners.
Latvian entrepreneurs expressed interest in expanding close trade, economic, and investment ties with Kazakhstan. They proposed a number of business ideas that resonate with the key themes of the President’s Address.
