In his regular Address, the Head of State touched upon very topical issues related to the political modernization and economic development of the country, as well as the future of Kazakhstan. The historic initiative of our President to transform Kazakhstan into a fully digital state is an important strategy that will determine the future of the country.
It is known that in recent years, on the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, large-scale political reforms have been carried out in Kazakhstan. The Head of State is the initiator of parliamentary reform in order to further improve the political system of the country. Of course, this important decision regarding the future of the country will be made by our people through a referendum.
In my opinion, a unicameral Parliament is very appropriate for a unified, unitary state like Kazakhstan. This will pave the way for improving the domestic legislative system, increasing the political weight and influence of deputies. The role of a unicameral Parliament in forming the Government and monitoring its work will increase. And the formation of its composition through a party system will allow for increased political competition and pluralism. In short, Kazakhstan is on the verge of entering a new stage of democratic development.
In addition, as a deputy of the Shymkent city maslikhat, I paid special attention to the issues of attracting investment to the regions in the Address. Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich emphasized that attracting investment is the responsibility of not only central executive bodies, but also local authorities, and said that akims should be directly responsible for the investment climate in the region.
In this regard, I would like to note that there are some positive results of work on improving the investment climate in Shymkent. Specifically, in January-June this year, 359.9 billion tenge of investments were attracted to the city's economy. This figure increased by 31 percent compared to the corresponding period last year. However, it is clear that we cannot be complacent about the achievements made. In particular, I believe that the President's instructions on improving the efficiency of management of special economic zones are very appropriate.
