On September 13, 2025, a city-wide Saturday event called "Clean City" was organized in the Dostyk microdistrict of the Abay district of Shymkent. The district akimat, municipal institutions, departments, and various organizations actively participated in the large-scale event and contributed to ensuring cleanliness.
The main goal of this Saturday was to keep the city clean in terms of sanitation, improve the quality of life of residents, increase environmental culture, and mobilize society for a common cause. Cleaning in the city was considered not only a beautification measure, but also an important factor in protecting public health.
During the weekend, extensive cleaning work was carried out in the district. In particular:
Dead trees and branches were cut down;
Grass cutting work was carried out in the green areas;
Roads and sidewalks were washed using special equipment;
Garbage dumps were cleaned and disinfected;
The household waste collected in the courtyards has been completely removed.
As a result of these works, the streets and public spaces of the Dostyk microdistrict have been significantly improved.
The Shymkent city department of social protection, department of culture, department of tourism and external relations, department of transport and road infrastructure, department of agriculture and other institutions participated in the event. Each department performed its duties and acted in harmony.
For example, the Department of Culture organized a small concert program to encourage participants in the Sabbath, while the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure provided equipment to clean roadside ditches.
Along with municipal services, the district youth resource center, volunteer movement, and residents also showed their activity. Young people in particular showed great support: they helped clean the streets, whitewash trees, and sort garbage.
This Sabbath increased the responsibility of every citizen in society towards their hometown.
During the event, residents were educated about environmental protection, waste sorting, and nature conservation. According to environmental experts, the formation of an ecological culture directly affects the future of society.
Therefore, such cleanups are not only considered cleaning activities, but also an environmental campaign with educational value .
According to experts, sanitation plays an important role in protecting public health. Timely removal of garbage, removal of dead trees and weeds prevent the spread of various infectious diseases.
The special significance of the Sabbath in this context was emphasized several times at the meeting.
Residents of the Dostyk microdistrict expressed their gratitude for the organized event. They said that as a result of such large-scale work, the area is cleaner and more beautiful than ever. Many residents voluntarily participated in the Sabbath, setting an example for their neighbors.
The Abai district akimat has announced plans to hold such cleanups on a regular basis. Each month, the focus will be on a specific microdistrict or settlement, and cleaning efforts will continue in phases.
In addition, as part of the "Clean City" campaign, a special environmental program has been developed and activities aimed at educating schoolchildren and students to treat nature with compassion will continue.
The large-scale cleanup on September 13 was not just a one-day cleanup, but a good initiative that demonstrated the unity and responsibility of society. As a result of this event, the territory of Abai district was not only beautified, but also the attitude towards nature protection was strengthened among residents.
In general, such measures are aimed at improving the ecology of the city, increasing the quality of life of residents, and leaving a clean environment for future generations.
