Shymkent International Airport has successfully completed the certification process and received RA3 (Regulated Agent Third Country) status. This certificate confirms the airport's compliance with the strict European Union aviation security requirements for cargo handling.
The airport has been assigned the unique registration number KZ/RA3/00004-01, officially entered into the European RA3 database. This status allows the airport to carry out direct cargo flights to EU countries without additional screening procedures at transit points.
This will speed up delivery and simplify logistics chains, reduce partners' time and financial costs, and increase the city's attractiveness for international air carriers and logistics companies.
This event is of strategic importance for Shymkent. Its new status strengthens the airport's position as one of Central Asia's key cargo hubs, expands opportunities for cooperation with international airlines, and opens new prospects for the development of Kazakhstan's foreign economic relations.
RA3 certification is thus an important step towards Kazakhstan's integration into international transport and trade corridors, and contributes to the region's growing investment and business attractiveness.
In addition, a second runway will be built at Shymkent Airport. The project is an important part of the program to transform the city's airport into a modern, multimodal, international hub.
The new runway will be 3,500 meters long and 60 meters wide. The PSN-80-class pavement will be durable enough to accommodate heavy-lift aircraft.
Particular attention has been paid to compliance with international safety standards. The runway will be equipped with systems that allow aircraft to land even in conditions of limited or zero visibility, significantly improving the regularity and reliability of air service.
