On September 20, 2025, a large-scale environmental campaign was held across all regions of Kazakhstan in honor of World Cleanup Day . This event aims to clean up the environment, foster environmental awareness, and raise awareness of environmental stewardship.

The city of Shymkent also actively joined the nationwide movement. A large-scale citywide cleanup event took place throughout the city, bringing together thousands of residents, volunteers, active youth, representatives of government agencies, educational institutions, industrial enterprises, and the business community.

The cleanup began early in the morning and covered all areas of the city. The first cleanup efforts began on Mangeldina Street (buildings nos. 32–34), Konstitutsionalny Proezd, and the courtyards of buildings nos. 58 and 58/1 in the Otyrar microdistrict. Residents were joined by staff from schools, kindergartens, and various organizations.

Al-Farabi District . 937 people and 14 pieces of equipment participated in the cleanup. 22.2 tons of waste were removed. Trees and shrubs were also trimmed, the grass was mown, and streets and dumpster areas were washed.

Enbekshinsky District . 11,792 people and 66 pieces of specialized equipment participated in the cleanup. A total of 58 tons of household waste were collected and removed. The work covered social facilities, industrial zones, educational institutions, and all organizations in the district.

Karatau District . 968 participants, supported by 18 pieces of equipment, worked here. Ultimately, 32.9 tons of waste were removed.

Turansky District . This district led in the number of participants and the volume of waste collected. 13,957 people and 54 pieces of equipment participated in the cleanup, collecting 60 tons of waste. Participants included 5,230 residents, over 1,000 students, 115 social facilities, and 212 businesses.

The City Youth Resource Center , which organized the campaign under the slogan "Shymkent – Clean City!", played a key role in the event. As part of the event, approximately 200 active volunteers conducted a large-scale cleanup in the village of Mayatas. Young people cleared streets and empty areas of trash, collected waste, and delivered it to designated locations.

The youth demonstrated a caring attitude toward the environment, demonstrating that the cleanliness of the city depends on the contribution of each person.

The organizers of the event emphasized that the goal of such events is not limited to a one-time cleanup. The main objective is to foster environmental awareness among the population and foster a responsible attitude toward the environment.

Environmental culture includes not only participation in cleanup days, but also everyday habits: not throwing litter on the street, sorting waste, saving water and electricity, and caring for green spaces.

Many families attended the event with their children, setting a personal example. This way, the younger generation learns from an early age to respect nature and value cleanliness.

The large-scale cleanup demonstrated a high level of community unity. Representatives of different ages and professions – civil servants, teachers, students, entrepreneurs, and ordinary citizens – worked shoulder to shoulder on this one project.

Such collaborative work not only improves the city's sanitary conditions, but also strengthens social ties and fosters a spirit of mutual assistance and trust within society.

Following World Cleanup Day in Shymkent, dozens of public spaces, courtyards, green areas, and industrial sites were cleaned. Hundreds of tons of household waste and construction waste were removed to landfills.

Each district demonstrated a high level of organization. The Turansky District stood out, achieving record results in both the number of participants and the volume of waste collected.

City officials stated that cleanup efforts will continue. Such campaigns will become regular and systematic. Particular attention will be paid to engaging young people and educational institutions, as it is through educating the younger generation that habits of cleanliness and environmental responsibility are shaped.

In addition, there are plans to more actively develop projects for waste separation, urban greening, and the improvement of courtyards and public spaces.

World Cleanup Day in Shymkent was well-organized and became a true celebration of unity and care for the city. Thanks to the efforts of tens of thousands of residents, the streets, courtyards, and green spaces were noticeably transformed.

However, the main value of this day lies not only in the tons of trash collected, but also in the fact that residents felt like true masters of their city. Cleanliness and order are not the sole responsibility of public utilities, but a common cause in which everyone's contribution is crucial.

Today's event once again demonstrated that by working together, significant results can be achieved. And every step toward cleanliness is an investment in the health, comfort, and future of the entire metropolis.
