Over 2,000 educators, university rectors, heads of technical and vocational education organizations, veteran teachers, the Mayor of Shymkent, the Chairman of the City Maslikhat, district akims, and department heads gathered under the arches of the Kyzgaldaq Palace in Shymkent for a gala gathering titled "Teacher – Beacon of the Nation." This event was a clear demonstration of how highly the city values the difficult and noble work of teachers.
The awards ceremony, highlighting the state and public recognition of Shymkent teachers, was a highlight of the celebration. Four city teachers were awarded the "Eren eңbegі үшін" (Highly Respected Teacher) badge. Several other teachers also received the "Ы. Алтынсарин" (Long-time Achievement in the Teaching of the Teacher) and "Білім Беру ісінің құрметті қызметкері" (Big, Highly Respected Teacher) badges, as well as letters of gratitude from the city akim and the chairman of the city maslikhat. Each award is more than just a badge of distinction; it is public recognition of an invaluable contribution to human capital development.
In his address to teachers, City Mayor Gabit Syzdykbekov emphasized the key role of teachers in the life of society and the state.
"As President Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev has said, teaching is not just a profession, it's a great mission... A teacher is the beacon of the nation's future. Teachers form the state's most important asset—human capital. Raising the status of teachers is one of the state's most important tasks," the mayor emphasized.
Systematic work is underway in Shymkent to improve the social status and professional development of more than 32,000 city teachers. The receipt of the "Eren eңbegі үшін" (Professor of Higher Education) badge by four teachers was cited as a factor that enhances the profession's standing and serves as a role model for younger generations.
The gala event concluded with a vibrant concert program. Heartfelt songs, kuis, and sincere congratulations became an emotional expression of the people's gratitude.
