Vienna, 22-26 September 2025 - The 52nd session of Working Group III of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) took place at the United Nations Office in Vienna.

The session brought together delegations from member and observer states, representatives of international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as leading experts in international investment law.

Kazakhstan was represented by Mr. Yerlan Tuyakbayev, Director of the Department for the Protection of State Property Rights at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Discussions focused on potential reforms of the investor–state dispute settlement (ISDS) system. Delegations also advanced deliberations on establishing an Advisory Centre on International Investment Dispute Resolution.

For reference: UNCITRAL Working Group III is mandated to explore reforms of the ISDS system with a view to modernizing international trade law and developing recommendations to enhance existing mechanisms for resolving investment disputes.
