In the city of Atbasar, Akmola Region, a solemn ceremony was held to inaugurate a memorial dedicated to 17 soldiers who died in the line of duty on April 7, 1995, in the Psikhavr Gorge on the Tajik-Afghan border. The event took place at the 4th Separate Rifle Company of Military Unit 5510 of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The ceremony was attended by the command of Military Unit 5510, representatives of local executive authorities, veterans of the forces of law and order, and the unit’s personnel.

The memorial stands as an eternal tribute to the heroes who gave their lives for peace and stability, faithfully fulfilling their military duty to the Motherland. It serves as a symbol of courage and loyalty for future generations.

During the ceremony, the participants honored the memory of the fallen with a moment of silence and laid flowers at the memorial.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the heroic act of the internal troops. Earlier, in Astana, a flower-laying ceremony was held at the monument “Er esimi – el esinde” on the Alley of Courage.

The opening of this memorial represents an important step in preserving the heroic traditions of the National Guard and strengthening military-patriotic education among service members.
