Kazakhstan and Bulgaria: Music, Diplomacy and the Spirit of Independence
16.10.2025 18:53:19 108Sofia, October 15, 2025 – At the initiative of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria, a festive concert by the TURAN ethno-folk ensemble of the State Academic Concert Organization «Qazaqconcert» named after Roza Baglanova was held in Sofia to mark the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty and in anticipation of Republic Day.
In his welcoming speech, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Viktor Temirbayev emphasized the significance of the Declaration, which laid the legal and institutional foundations for the country’s independence. He noted that this historic document not only marked the beginning of a new stage of development in Kazakhstan’s modern history, but also became a symbol of the political maturity of the Kazakh people and their aspiration for peaceful development.
The musicians of the TURAN ensemble presented a vibrant program featuring compositions that reflect the rich heritage of Turkic and Kazakh musical culture. Their performance was distinguished by high professionalism, emotional depth, and a unique blend of ancient traditions with contemporary sound.
The audience – which included senior officials from the Administration of the President of Bulgaria, representatives of state institutions and agencies, members of the National Assembly (Parliament), heads of foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations, members of the creative community, and the media – warmly welcomed the performance of the Kazakhstani artists.
The evening became a vivid example of strengthening cultural dialogue and friendship between the two countries. It also confirmed the growing interest of the Bulgarian public in Kazakhstan’s history, culture, and modern achievements.
Over the years, the TURAN ethno-folk ensemble has given more than 600 concerts in over 70 countries, performing on prestigious stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, Zellerbach Hall in Los Angeles, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, Salle Cortot in Paris, the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall, and many others.
