In honor of Republic Day and the 35th anniversary of the Declaration of State Sovereignty, the republican debate tournament "Teren tarikhtan – zharqyn bolashaqqa!" has started in the city of Shymkent.
Deputy Akim of Shymkent, Sarsen Kuranbek, attended the opening ceremony of the large-scale intellectual competition, wishing success and best wishes to the young participants.
More than 120 teams from nine regions of the country are participating in the tournament: the cities of Astana, Almaty, and the Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Aktobe, Karaganda, Zhambyl, and West Kazakhstan regions. They will compete in knowledge and public speaking on the debate stage.
Experienced debaters selected from three Shymkent universities, as well as representatives of the older generation of the debate movement, will judge the competition. A total of approximately 70 professional judges ensure fair and open debates.
The resolutions to be considered during the tournament cover pressing societal issues. Specifically, diverse perspectives will be discussed and expressed on topics related to technology, democracy, legal culture, the education system, and youth policy.
The Republican Debate Tournament, scheduled for two days, will conclude tomorrow, at which time its winners will be announced.
