The Shymkent City Water Treatment Complex (SWTC) is today recognized as one of the best environmental and engineering facilities not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the entire CIS. This facility has been completely modernized based on modern Polish technology and brought to a new level. As a result, the complex has not only significantly improved the quality of water treatment, but also achieved high energy efficiency and environmental efficiency.

The main feature of the complex is the operation of a biogas plant, which is unparalleled in Central Asia. With an annual capacity of 4.5 million kW , this provides approximately 50 percent of the TSK's own electricity needs. And the need for thermal energy is 100 percent covered by this system. Additional energy is produced by natural gas-powered generators and a small hydroelectric power station. Thus, in general, the complex is self-sufficient in up to 90 percent of its energy consumption. This is a great achievement from an environmental and economic point of view.

Such a high level of energy saving is rare not only in Kazakhstan, but also in neighboring countries. That is why the Shymkent wastewater treatment plant is now being recognized internationally as an exemplary project that combines environmental sustainability and innovation.

"Water Resources - Marketing" LLP was one of the first in the CIS to introduce the "Ydro Process" biotechnology to reduce excess sludge and eliminate unpleasant odors. This technology eliminates the harmful effects on the environment by biologically processing waste, rather than using the traditional method of collecting and decomposing it in sludge fields.

Today, this innovation has fully proven its effectiveness. As a result , 95 percent of excess sludge was removed , and the unpleasant odor completely disappeared. If earlier it required a lot of money and land resources to bury waste in landfills, now this need has completely disappeared. Such an achievement allows the enterprise to save about 200 million tenge annually.

In addition, the "Ydro Process" technology does not harm the environment, as it neutralizes organic waste with the help of natural microorganisms. This method is considered an environmentally friendly and economically viable alternative in the field of water treatment.

Starting in 2022, treated wastewater from the WWTP will be discharged to the Borzhar water reservoir . A chlorella strain developed by the Petropavlovsk Scientific and Technical Center will be used here to improve water quality.

Chlorella is a micro-algae that naturally purifies water and improves aquatic ecosystems by releasing oxygen. With its help, purified wastewater undergoes an additional biological filter , where microorganisms and harmful substances are neutralized. In addition, chlorella, by releasing oxygen, creates conditions for the development of ichthyofauna , that is, the reproduction of fish and other aquatic creatures.

Today , more than 80 thousand fish fry have been released into the Borzhar reservoir. This makes a significant contribution to the restoration of the natural ecosystem and the preservation of the biological balance of the water body.

Chlorella technology is also highly cost-effective. Thanks to it, the enterprise saves about 900 million tenge annually, since traditional disinfection methods - ultraviolet radiation or reverse osmosis - require expensive equipment and constant maintenance.

Chlorella is a natural and cost-effective solution. It reproduces on its own and continuously improves water quality. Thus, the company maintains environmental sustainability by efficiently using nature's own resources.

Another pride of the Shymkent treatment facilities is the rational use of alternative energy sources. The energy produced with the help of biogas and hydroelectric power plants not only fully provides the complex itself, but in some cases even produces excess capacity. This is fully consistent with the country's strategy of transition to a "green economy".

Automated control systems installed at the WWTP constantly monitor water quality, biological process efficiency, and energy consumption. This management approach meets international standards and is aimed at improving the quality of service.

The activities of "Su Resoursy - Marketing" LLP are not only an engineering achievement, but also a manifestation of environmental culture. The company contributes to improving the quality of the city's air by planting thousands of trees and shrubs every year.

Trees and lawns planted on the territory of the complex absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, which improves the overall ecological situation of the city. In addition, special programs and trainings are held among the enterprise's employees aimed at increasing environmental responsibility.

Thus, the Shymkent wastewater treatment complex is a unique project that combines engineering innovation and environmental awareness. Here, the concepts of cleanliness, energy saving, and environmental protection converge in one goal.

Today, Shymkent TPP is a symbol of environmental sustainability and technological development. Its success lies in its ability to combine scientific innovation with practical experience.

The biogas plant, the "Ydro Process" biotechnology, and the chlorella-based natural purification system are all real examples of efficient use of water resources, energy conservation, and environmental protection.

Through its activities, Water Resources – Marketing LLP has become an example for the development of the country's environmental policy, the spread of green technologies, and the prudent use of natural resources.

This project is an environmental achievement not only for the city of Shymkent, but for all of Kazakhstan.
