Water-saving technologies are being widely implemented

The regional Akim, Murat Ergeshbayev, visited the sown areas of the partnership of the Ybyrai Zhakhayev Kazakh Rice Research Institute.
The head of the region was presented with the institute's research and production activities, as well as work on the effective use of agricultural technologies and water resources applied in rice farming.
The Ybyrai Zhakhayev Kazakh Rice Research Institute has been operating as a subsidiary organization within the National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center since 2015. It is engaged in the production and sale of unique, elite, first reproduction rice seeds.
Currently, 118 people work at the institution, including 20 research staff. The scientific staff includes 5 Doctors of Sciences, 2 Candidates of Sciences, 1 PhD Doctor, and 8 Masters. Furthermore, 8 young scientists are conducting research work.
The institute's agricultural land totals 4,984.4 hectares, with arable land at 1,493.2 hectares, pastures at 1,741.3 hectares, hayfields at 780 hectares, other land at 969.9 hectares, and there are 28 units of machinery. This year, 500 hectares have been sown and are being cultivated for rice. To date, 310 hectares have been sown, of which 290 hectares are flooded.
The regional Akim instructed the responsible industry leaders to widely introduce water-saving technologies, effectively use scientific innovations in production, and perform the work with quality and on time.
It is worth noting that this year, a total of 185.8 thousand hectares are being sown in the region, including 89.7 thousand hectares of grain crops, 6.1 thousand hectares of oilseed crops, 73.2 thousand hectares of forage crops, and 16.8 thousand hectares of potatoes, vegetables, and melons.
In accordance with the task set by the Head of State, compared to last year, the rice area has been reduced by 10.9 thousand hectares, with planting planned for 70 thousand hectares.
For the spring sowing campaign, 19.7 thousand tons of rice seeds have been prepared, as well as 1,570.9 tons of seeds of other grain crops, 126.6 tons of oilseeds, and 301.6 tons of forage crop seeds.
To date, 11.4 thousand tons of rice seeds, which is 58.1 percent, have been brought to sowing condition.
