KAZAID INTERNSHIP IN KOREA
From September 21 to October 3, 2025, KazAID employees Sultan Kerimsal and Kamila Shaimerdenova completed a two-week internship at KOICA in Seoul, Republic of Korea, under the program “Capacity Building for International Development Agency in Emerging Donors & GPEDC Learning & Accelerating Program (2025).”
The program aimed to exchange experiences between new and traditional donors and study Korea’s institutional model in the field of Official Development Assistance (ODA).
During the internship, participants attended intensive lectures and practical sessions with experts from Korea University, KOICA, Norad, UNDP, and GPEDC. The KazAID team explored KOICA’s project cycle, efficiency evaluation methods, transparency mechanisms, inter-agency coordination, and digital monitoring tools.
Separate sessions focused on South–South Cooperation, integration of SDGs into national and foreign policies, and the role of the private sector in development financing.
KazAID representatives also participated in the Busan Global Partnership Forum and Seoul ODA Forum, gaining insights into key international development approaches and initiatives. The program included a cultural component — visits to historical and modern landmarks of Seoul, introducing participants to Korean traditions and culture.
The internship results became an important step in strengthening KazAID’s institutional capacity and enhancing Kazakhstan’s role as an active and responsible participant in global development initiatives.
