Brussels, 21 October 2025 – The Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the Global Tourism Forum 2025, held on 20–21 October at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels. The forum, organized by the World Tourism Forum Institute (WTFI), brought together more than one thousand participants from over fifty countries under the theme “Rethinking Tourism in a Changing World.” The forum opened with remarks by the Secretary-General Elect of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Sheikha Al-Nuwais, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev, and EU Commissioner for Tourism and Transport Apostolos Tzitzikostas.

With the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Belgium and the participation of the Almaty Tourism Bureau, a national stand was presented, showcasing Kazakhstan’s tourism and investment potential, its natural and cultural heritage, as well as prospects for the development of sustainable tourism.

During the forum, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Belgium Roman Vassilenko met with President of the Global Tourism Forum Bulut Bağcı. The parties discussed opportunities to expand international cooperation and exchange best practices in the field of tourism.

Bulut Bağcı noted:

“Kazakhstan is demonstrating impressive progress in the development of its tourism industry, combining modern approaches with the preservation of its unique natural and cultural wealth. We are witnessing growing interest in this country as a new destination for both travelers and investors.”

At the Global Tourism Awards 2025 ceremony, the city of Almaty received a special award — “Special Recognition for Tourism Innovation and Urban Transformation” — in acknowledgment of its efforts to introduce innovative solutions and develop urban infrastructure aimed at enhancing the quality of the tourist experience.

In addition, the President of the Global Tourism Forum Bulut Bağcı presented Ambassador of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko with a crystal plaque addressed to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in recognition of his outstanding support and visionary leadership in strengthening international cooperation and promoting sustainable tourism worldwide.

Kazakhstan’s participation in the Global Tourism Forum 2025 reaffirmed the country’s growing role in advancing sustainable tourism and fostering international cooperation in travel and investment.
