Cooperation Between Official Development Assistance Agencies Established

Brasília, October 22, 2025 - The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil, Bolat Nussupov, met with the Deputy Director of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), Ambassador Luiza Lopes da Silva.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the agreements reached during the visit of the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Kairat Umarov, to the agency’s leadership in 2024, in Brasília, regarding the establishment of bilateral cooperation between ABC and the Kazakhstan Agency for International Development (KazAID) in the field of Official Development Assistance (ODA).

In this context, an agreement was reached on the signing of a bilateral memorandum of cooperation between the two agencies, which will lay the foundation for the joint implementation of bilateral, trilateral, and multilateral projects in the area of official development assistance. To this end, at the invitation of KazAID, a visit to Astana by the Director-General of ABC, Ambassador Ruy Carlos Pereira, is planned for December this year.

For reference: The Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) was established in 1987. It is a public institution under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, responsible for implementing Official Development Assistance (ODA) programs. Its mission is to coordinate Brazil’s support for national and international cooperation projects, carried out in partnership with other Brazilian institutions from the public and private sectors, as well as with international organizations and similar agencies from other countries.
