Acharnes, 23 October 2025 – As part of the visit of the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Greece,  Mr. Timur Sultangozhin to Acharnes, a meeting was held with the Mayor of the Municipality, Mr. Spyros Vrettos, followed by a joint visit to «Kazakhstan» street, named in honour of our country.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the importance of further developing cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as regional cooperation. The sides reviewed plans to expand interaction in the cultural, tourism and environmental spheres, and reaffirmed the significance of strengthening sister-city relations between Acharnes and Shymkent. Opportunities for holding joint events and programs aimed at fostering public engagement and people-to-people contacts were also explored.

It was noted that Acharnes is one of the municipalities in Greece where a significant number of descendants of Kazakhstan reside, contributing to the life of the city while preserving their historical and cultural ties with their homeland. «Kazakhstan» street, along with the commemorative monument in Acharnes dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, serves as a symbol of friendship and mutual respect between Kazakhstan and Greece.

Following the visit, the parties confirmed their intention to continue joint efforts in organizing events in 2026 aimed at promoting intercultural dialogue and enhancing cooperation between the regions of the two countries.
