Manneken Pis in Brussels Dressed in Kazakh National Costume in Honor of the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Brussels, 25 October 2025 – The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Belgium, together with the Order of the Guardians of Manneken Pis, held a ceremonial dressing of the famous Brussels statue Manneken Pis in a traditional Kazakh shapan in honor of the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The ceremony took place in the historic center of Brussels and became a symbol of friendship, cultural exchange, and mutual respect between Kazakhstan and Belgium. The event was attended by Belgian public figures, representatives of cultural organizations, students, and members of the Kazakh community.
In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Belgium Roman Vassilenko said:
“Today’s event reflects the strong partnership between Kazakhstan and Belgium, based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to the development of cultural dialogue. We are pleased to present the rich traditions of the Kazakh people in the heart of Europe – in Brussels, the capital of the European Union.”
A specially tailored Kazakh shapan adorned with traditional ornaments was placed on Manneken Pis. This symbolic gesture highlighted Kazakhstan’s commitment to promoting intercultural understanding and raising awareness of its national heritage on the international stage.
