Brasilia, October 28, 2025 – Ambassador Bolat Nussupov met with Mr. Jose Cardoso Neto, Managing Director of Amazon Visto, at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brazil.
The interlocutors discussed joint plans to expand regional cooperation between Kazakhstan and the state of Amazonas in the field of trade and investment, as well as the opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Manaus. The interlocutor conveyed to the Ambassador an official invitation from the governor of the state and the mayor of its capital to visit Amazonas as part of the COP30 climate change conference.
The Brazilian side briefed the Ambassador on the infrastructure and economic projects being implemented in the state and proposed to pay a working visit to the state capital, Manaus, in November this year, visit the international free economic zone, and hold meetings with business circles and state leadership to discuss cooperation issues.
Given Brazil's federal structure, regional cooperation is an important element in strengthening bilateral relations. Currently, regional partnerships between Kazakhstan and Brazil have been established between the Karaganda region and the state of Bahia (2021), the Almaty region and the state of Rio Grande do Sul (2024), and the East Kazakhstan region and the state of Santa Catarina (2025).
For reference: Amazonia is Brazil's largest state by area, occupying over 18% of the country's territory in the least developed part of the Amazon River basin. The state capital, Manaus, has been declared a free economic zone within the region, accounting for approximately 98% of the state's industrial production.
