As part of her participation in the 6th Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice in Madrid, Chairperson of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova met with President of the National Audience of the Kingdom of Spain Juan Manuel Fernández Martínez.

During the meeting, Elvira Azimova spoke about the legal reforms in Kazakhstan and the activities of the constitutional review body in light of the 2022 constitutional reform, as well as the legal framework and practice of implementing the Constitutional Court’s decisions by Kazakhstani courts.

This meeting, along with a number of other bilateral meetings with Spanish institutions, marked the beginning of establishing legal cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kingdom of Spain.

The National Audience is Spain’s highest judicial body specializing in the consideration of the most complex and nationally significant cases, such as terrorism, organized crime, economic offenses, and others.
