Representatives of Japan's ruling coalition will join the Parliamentary League of Friendship with Kazakhstan

Tokyo, 30 October 2025 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Japan Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev met with Members of Parliament from the Japan Innovation Party, which joined Japan's ruling coalition in October.
Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev briefed Kazumi Sugimoto, Koichiro Machimura and Nobuhisa Ito on current issues and prospects for the development of Kazakhstan-Japan's "Enhanced Strategic Partnership."
The parties exchanged views on the two countries' approaches to further modernizing political systems, with the Kazakhstan diplomat informed Kazakhstan's parliamentary reform goals and Japanese lawmakers informed about the Japan Innovation Party's initiative to reduce the number of seats in the House of Representatives by 10%.
Kazumi Sugimoto, the Head of the party's International bureau, remarked that Kazakhstan is an essential player in the international supply of critical mineral resources, as well as in Japan's economic diplomacy. He also commended Kazakhstan's participation in EXPO 2025 in Osaka, which is regarded as the Japanese Innovation Party's headquarter and political sphere.
Following the meeting, the parties reached agreements on the inclusion of deputies from the Japanese Innovation Party in the Parliamentary League of Friendship with Kazakhstan, who expressed their intention to cooperate in all key areas of interparliamentary work.
