Kazakhstan and Mongolia: A New Stage of Strategic Partnership and Mutually Beneficial Cooperation

On 1 October 2026, the 10th meeting of the Kazakhstan–Mongolia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation was held in Astana.

The Kazakh delegation was headed by Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov, while the Mongolian delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Nyamtaishiryn Nomtoibayar.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a broad range of issues on the bilateral agenda, including the expansion of mutual trade, cooperation in agriculture, industry, transport and logistics, as well as the implementation of joint investment and infrastructure projects.

Particular attention was given to the goal of increasing bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Mongolia to USD 500 million. The parties noted considerable potential for expanding the range of goods traded between the two countries, strengthening industrial cooperation and promoting Kazakh products in the Mongolian market.

The parties also considered opportunities to develop transport routes, improve logistics and create more favourable conditions for the business communities of both countries. Prospects for further cooperation in education, science, culture and humanitarian exchanges were also discussed.

Following the meeting, the parties signed the Protocol of the 10th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, setting out the key agreements reached and priority areas for the further development of Kazakhstan–Mongolia cooperation.

The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in the practical implementation of the agreements reached and in further strengthening the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Mongolia.
