Kazakhstan and Oman expand cooperation in the transport sector
01.11.2025 09:33:03 107Muscat, October 31, 2025 - In preparation of the first meeting of the Kazakh-Omani Intergovernmental Commission, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Sultanate of Oman, Aidarbek Tumatov held a meeting with the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of Oman, Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed Al Maawali.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for enhancing cooperation in the transport sector. Ambassador A.Tumatov emphasized the importance of establishing a direct air connection between Kazakhstan and Oman, proposing the possibility of granting the fifth freedom rights to Omani airlines. The initiative was welcomed by the Omani Minister.
It was noted that Oman Air, the national carrier, plans to launch regular flights between Astana and Muscat in 2026, a move expected to boost mutual travel, trade, and business engagement between the two nations.
In addition, the meeting explored opportunities in the field of digital technologies. The Kazakh side presented advanced IT solutions, including projects in cybersecurity and the Astana Hub innovation platform, aimed at expanding Kazakhstan’s digital exports. The Omani side expressed strong interest, with local organizations set to review Kazakhstani IT services for potential implementation in Oman.
