Direct Air Connection Between Kazakhstan and Serbia Launched

Belgrade, November 3, 2025 – The first regular Astana–Belgrade flight operated by Kazakhstan’s SCAT Airlines successfully arrived in the Serbian capital.

At Nikola Tesla International Airport, passengers of the inaugural flight were welcomed by Ana Brnabić, Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, along with the leadership of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

On behalf of the Serbian leadership, Ms. Brnabić expressed gratitude to the Kazakh side for its efforts in launching the route and expressed confidence that the direct air connection will contribute to stronger political and economic cooperation, as well as to enhanced people-to-people partnership between the two friendly nations.

On the same day, a press conference with media representatives was held to mark the launch of the direct flight, along with a meeting between the Kazakh delegation and Serbia’s aviation authorities.

During the events, Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastayev briefed Serbian media on new trends in Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics sector and outlined mutually beneficial opportunities opening up for partners, including Serbian companies. Mr. Lastayev emphasized that the new route will play a significant role in developing business and tourism, and invited Serbian citizens to visit Kazakhstan and take advantage of the visa-free travel regime.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Serbia Madi Atamkulov noted that the initiative to launch this route came from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and was supported by President Aleksandar Vučić of Serbia, expressing confidence that the direct flight would become a bridge connecting the peoples of Kazakhstan and Serbia. He also highlighted the symbolic significance of this achievement on the eve of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

President of SCAT Airlines Vladimir Denissov presented the company’s potential, emphasizing that SCAT successfully connects Kazakhstan with both Europe and Asia, thereby strengthening the country’s role as a transit hub for Central Asia.

Direct flights will operate twice a week on modern and comfortable Boeing 737 aircraft operated by SCAT Airlines, with a flight time of 5 hours and 40 minutes.
