Tokyo, November 11, 2025 — Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Japan Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhataev met with Japan’s Minister of Digitalization Hisashi Matsumoto.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for further cooperation between Kazakhstan and Japan in the fields of digitalization, artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure development, and the implementation of innovative technologies.

Ambassador Baudarbek-Kozhataev briefed the Japanese side on the key directions of Kazakhstan’s digital agenda as outlined in President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s Address to the Nation in September 2025. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of AI, big data, and the knowledge economy as pivotal factors in modernizing the national economy and public administration.

It was noted that Kazakhstan seeks to strengthen its position as a regional hub for digital innovation by actively advancing initiatives in digital government, smart cities, and the application of cutting-edge digital solutions in the social and economic sphere.

Minister Matsumoto highly commended the pace of Kazakhstan’s digital transformation, noting that the country’s efforts to build a modern digital ecosystem are in line with global trends and open up broad opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation with Japan.

Both sides expressed readiness to further expand practical collaboration in digitalization, including in such areas as professional training and the implementation of AI-based solutions.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue a constructive dialogue and to develop specific initiatives aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan–Japan partnership in the fields of digital transformation and innovation-driven development.
