Kazakhstan and Greece Agreed to Further Develop Tourism Cooperation

Athens, 11 November 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Hellenic Republic Timur Sultangozhin held a meeting with the Minister of Tourism of Greece, Olga Kefalogianni. During the talks, both sides reaffirmed mutual interest in further developing bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism and agreed to revitalize the practical implementation of the Interministerial Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2018.
The Ambassador briefed the Minister on Kazakhstan’s priorities in the tourism sector, highlighting the focus on sustainable and high-quality growth of inbound tourism, improving the comfort of foreign visitors through digital services and modernized infrastructure, strengthening human resources, and promoting Kazakhstan as a destination for eco-, cultural, and winter tourism. The growing interest of Greek citizens in visiting Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region was also noted.
Special attention was paid to the development of air connectivity as a key factor in increasing mutual tourist flows. Both sides supported the idea of expanding direct flights and agreed to continue constructive engagement between the relevant authorities and air carriers to develop practical solutions. It was also emphasized that further liberalization of visa procedures for citizens of Kazakhstan would serve as an additional stimulus for mutual travel.
The meeting also reviewed prospects for medium-term cooperation, including coordination of high-level visits, organization of business programmes with the participation of tourism companies, and alignment of sectoral event calendars.
At the conclusion of the talks, both sides confirmed their readiness to implement the reached agreements aimed at strengthening the bilateral tourism partnership.
