Kazakhstan’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy Presented in Tokyo

Tokyo, November 11, 2025 – The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Japan hosted a roundtable discussion on the implementation of Kazakhstan’s national artificial intelligence strategy. The event brought together representatives from academia, business leaders, and heads of think tanks.

During the meeting, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Japan Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev briefed participants on the Government’s priorities for developing a national AI ecosystem and advancing the use of digital technologies in public administration and the broader economy.

Participants showed keen interest in the activities of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan, including the application of digital solutions in public services and the banking sector, as well as the expansion of international cooperation in ICT.

Professor Kei Karasawa highlighted Kazakhstan’s growing role in the region, emphasizing how its proactive foreign policy and initiatives contribute to regional stability and prosperity.

Former Japanese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Ichiro Kawabata noted that the Japanese government has also identified AI development as a key strategic priority and highlighted the significant potential for cooperation between the public and private sectors of both countries.

Ambassador Toshio Tsunozaki, head of the Japan Association for Kazakhstan Studies, shared observations from a recent visit to Kazakhstan, noting the positive impact of digital technologies on the daily lives of Kazakhstan citizens and the increased accessibility and convenience of government services.

Shitaro Fujiki, President of Japan Energy Holdings, emphasized that Kazakhstan’s economic transformation with a focus on new technologies presents extensive investment and business opportunities for international investors.

Finally, Kazuo Ueda, Chairman of the Japan Association for Private Finance and Public-Private Partnerships, expressed the readiness of his association’s members to support and facilitate the implementation of joint projects in this rapidly evolving sector.
