On November 14, in honor of the birthday of the classic of Kazakh literature and our fellow countryman Beimbet Maylin, the annual district reading contest “Maylin oqýlary” was held in the reading hall of the central district library. The contest was organized among students of grades 7–11 from the district schools. According to the regulations, participants were required to read an excerpt from a prose work by B. Maylin in either Kazakh or Russian.

The purpose of the contest is to increase interest in B. Maylin’s literary heritage and to promote reading among school students in the district.

Seventeen students from the villages of Äyet, Tobol, Asenkritovka, Maiskoe, Novoilinovka, Baishyuaq, Valeryanovka, and Krasnoselskoe took part in the competition.

All participants were well-prepared, but as in any competition, the winners had to be selected.

According to the jury’s decision:

1st place – Galstyan Karine (Maiskoe)

2nd place – Maksutkhan Bekzada (Tobol)

3rd place – Shilkina Arina (Tobol)

Imam Hamzin I.Sh. took part in the work of the jury and, as personal encouragement, awarded monetary prizes to the following participants:

Kurushbekova Ukilimay (Aiyet)

Bolat Erkebulan (Baishyuaq)

Maksutkhan Bekzada (Tobol)

All participants received letters of appreciation and commemorative gifts.

Thanks to such events, schoolchildren discover the world of Kazakh literature, develop a love for books, and foster pride in the works of Beimbet Maylin.
