NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR DIGITAL PARTNERSHIP DISCUSSED IN OULU

Helsinki, 17 November 2025 – With the aim of deepening bilateral cooperation in the fields of innovation and education, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan Azamat Abdraimov made a working visit to the city of Oulu — a hub of digital transformation.
During the visit, the Ambassador held a series of meetings with representatives of regional authorities, the University of Oulu, and key companies.
The visit began with a tour of Business Oulu, where the Ambassador familiarized himself with the city’s key areas of activity, including innovation, culture, and education, as well as the municipality’s efforts to promote a sustainable urban environment and support technological start-ups.
An important part of the programme was a meeting with the Mayor of Oulu, Ari Alatossava, during which the parties discussed opportunities to expand cooperation at the interregional level and prospects for exchanging experience in sustainable urban development and innovative technologies.
The Ambassador also met with Jarkko Pyykkönen, Head of Nokia’s Oulu Unit, at the company’s new campus — one of the world’s most advanced centres covering the entire innovation lifecycle of 5G and 6G radio equipment. The parties discussed the potential for further bilateral cooperation in the ICT sphere.
In addition, the Kazakh diplomat met with the leadership of Meka Pro Oy and Siili Solutions, companies specializing in cable equipment manufacturing and digital solutions. The discussion was focused on opportunities for Finnish companies to participate in partnership projects in Kazakhstan, including infrastructure development, digitalization of industrial processes, and the introduction of intelligent technologies.
At the end of the visit, the Ambassador visited the University of Oulu — one of Finland’s leading scientific and educational centres, ranked among the top 3% of universities worldwide. The Ambassador was presented with the university’s research and innovation programmes, including projects related to the development of 6G technologies. Furthermore, Mr. Abdraimov met with Kazakh scholars currently working at the University.
