November 14, 2025 - The 16th DGIEA Friendship Night was held in Gyeongju - a key event in regional public diplomacy, organized in the momentum of preparations for the APEC 2025 Summit.
The Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Busan participated in the event and held meetings with the leadership of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Daegu City.
Why is this partnership unique?
Cooperation with Kazakhstan is personally overseen by the Association’s Co-Chair, President of Keimyung University, Dr. Synn Ilhi. His leadership ensures that our joint initiatives receive the highest level of institutional support.
Key Outcomes & Highlights
✅ Practical Assistance
In September 2025, a DGIEA volunteer mission visited Almaty and Ushtobe. Korean doctors and volunteers provided medical services to local communities and delivered humanitarian aid to cultural centers of the ethnic Korean diaspora.
✅ Healthcare Cooperation
Both sides agreed to continue internship programs for Kazakhstani medical professionals at Daegu’s leading hospitals in 2026. The charity program offering complex surgeries for children from Kazakhstan will also remain in place.
✅ Preserving Heritage
The Association continues to support ethnic Koreans in the Ushtobe region, contributing to the preservation of deportation history and strengthening intergenerational continuity.
During discussions with Governor Lee Cheol-woo and Dr. Synn Ilhi, the Kazakh side expressed profound gratitude for a friendship demonstrated not in words, but through genuine good deeds.
