Strategic Kazakhstan-Hungary Cooperation Highlighted at Expert Discussion in Budapest

Budapest, 18 November 2025 - the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hungary in partnership with the Ludovika Center for Turkic Studies under the Ludovika University of Public Service, and the Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh–Turkish University, hosted the roundtable event in a panel discussion format titled “Connectivity and Cooperation: Hungary’s Strategic Engagement with the Turkic World.”

The event was attended by the Ambassadors and diplomats of the OTS Member States accredited in Budapest, staff of the OTS Representation Office in Hungary, as well as representatives of the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation and various analytical centers.

The event opened with remarks from Mr. Pier Paolo Pigozzi, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Ludovika University; H.E. Abzal Saparbekuly, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Hungary; and Prof. Muhittin Şimşek, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Akhmet Yassawi University. A video message was conveyed by Ms. Liliana Śmiech, Director General for International Affairs at Ludovika.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two universities, laying the groundwork for enhanced academic cooperation and joint research projects.

Two panel discussions followed:

- The first addressed “Connectivity and Resilience: The Turkic World and Hungary in a Shared Regional Context,” focusing on regional connectivity and Hungary’s engagement with the Turkic states.

- The second examined “Kazakhstan and Hungary: Building Sustainable Futures Through Strategic Partnership,” concentrating on economic cooperation, innovation, green transition, and mutual development priorities.

Ambassador Saparbekuly reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to deepening collaboration with Hungary in a bilateral format as well as within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States and highlighted the importance of academic and expert dialogue for future strategic partnerships.

Ambassador Saparbekuly expressed hıs gratitude to all partners for their cooperation in organising this important platform and looks forward to continued joint efforts in research, education and diplomacy.
