In recent years, large-scale projects have been implemented in Shymkent to modernize natural security and infrastructure. One of them is the construction of a dam and strengthening of the water bank near the Badam River. Ensuring the safety of city residents and preventing possible floods is one of the important tasks on the agenda. In this regard, in accordance with the instructions of the Shymkent akim, hydraulic engineering works in the Badam-2 area will continue from November 1, 2025.

The responsible contractor is the Hydrolife 2050 partnership. The company is carrying out a lot of work within the framework of this project to strengthen the riverbank, strengthen the dam, and reduce hydrological risks. Currently, the second phase of the project is being implemented: the right bank of the river is being completely restored and its structural strength is being strengthened.

Special equipment is fully deployed in the area where the work is being carried out. There are tracked and wheeled excavators, loaders, scrapers, rammers, heavy trucks and tractors at the construction site - a total of 16 special equipment are in continuous operation. This not only increases the pace of work, but also ensures the quality of construction. At the same time, experienced engineers and specialists are working in strict compliance with safety requirements.

The majority of the construction phase is devoted to engineering planning and site preparation. First, the embankment surface is leveled in accordance with the design requirements. Then, the reinforcement frame is developed and concrete structures are poured. This will allow the dam to stand strong for many years. In areas with strong water flows, additional protective layers are laid and erosion prevention systems are being introduced.

According to experts, this facility near the Badam River is of strategic importance for the city's security. Because during heavy rainfall or rapid snowmelt, the river water level can rise, threatening residential buildings and facilities on the banks. Such cases have been recorded several times before. Therefore, strengthening the dam will allow residents to live without worries.

Another important aspect of the project is maintaining ecological balance. Hydraulic engineering construction is being carried out without harming the natural environment. During the construction, the riverbed will be expanded, improving its water carrying capacity. After the work is completed, it is planned to improve the embankment, create green spaces and recreation areas. This will make the riverside not only a safe area, but also a beautiful place for people to relax.
