Latvia-Kazakhstan Business Bridge: strengthening economic cooperation

Riga, November 21, 2025 – The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with Industra Bank and the Baltic-Central Asian Association for Economic Development held a business meeting "Kazakhstan-Latvia: Business Bridge 2025/2026".

Opening the event, Ambassador Dauren Karipov noted the need to step up efforts to further strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries, primarily through the implementation of joint projects. In this context, he informed about the economic potential and investment climate of Kazakhstan, as well as the priorities of the country's development outlined by the Head of State.

Representatives of the Kazakh side presented the capabilities of the Astana Hub, the AIFC and QazTrade, as well as the dynamically developing Shymkent metropolis. They reported on the existing business environment, mechanisms of state support for foreign investors and exports of Kazakhstani products.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation. They emphasized the importance of unlocking the transit and transport potential of the two countries. In this regard, specific proposals have been developed to increase the volume of transit of international goods through Kazakhstan and Latvia, as well as Kazakhstani goods through Latvian ports.

An exchange of views took place on the possible expansion of the range of supplies of Kazakh products to the Baltic region, the establishment of IT cooperation and technology exchange. A separate section was devoted to regional cooperation, as well as initiatives in the agricultural and manufacturing sectors.

Kazakhstan was represented by the City Council of Shymkent, “QazTrade”, “Astana Hub”, the Astana International Financial Centre, the Union of Transport workers of Kazakhstan “Kazlogistics” and etc.

The event was attended by 80 representatives of the Latvian business community, including the Freeport of Riga, the Freeport of Liepāja, the Freeport of Ventspils, as well as Olpha AS, SIA Sonora, Latvijas Pasts, SIA Bio-Venta, and Stena Line, SIA Uzvara-Lauks, AS Dobeles Dzirnavnieks, and the investment fund “The Untitled”.
