Press Release: "New Wave of Phishing - Your iPhones Are Being Stolen Online"
28.11.2025 17:31:06 95
The Center for Forecasting Crime Threats and Public Security Risks
of the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Accounting
of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan warns of the threat
of online fraud against iPhone owners.
According to foreign sources
(https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/lost-iphone-dont-fall-for-phishing-texts-saying-itwas-found / https://itc.ua/news/moshennyky-obmanyvayut-vladeltsev-ukradennyh-iphone-falshyvymysoobshhenyyamy-apple-find-my/)
Fraudsters send fake SMS or iMessage messages claiming to be Apple with a phishing link attached, specifying the model, color, and storage capacity of a supposedly found iPhone, thus creating the impression that the notification is genuine.
By clicking the attached link, the user is taken to a fake page, visually identical to Apple's Find My service, which transmits the user's Apple ID login and password to the scammers.
This allows the attackers to bypass the iPhone's Activation Lock and gain access to the device and personal information.
Given the rapid spread of this type of threat, we strongly recommend:
- Avoid clicking suspicious links;
- Use a separate email address if you want to display contact information on the lock screen of a lost device;
- Protect your SIM card with a PIN to make it more difficult to access;
- Only check your device through icloud.com/find.
Remain vigilant and maintain cybersecurity.
