Based on Article 22 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Customs Regulation in the Republic of Kazakhstan" (dated December 26, 2017, No. 123-VI LRK), the Customs authorities are mandated to provide advice to individuals on the application of customs legislation. In view of the frequently asked questions regarding the possibility or impossibility of importing certain goods into the customs territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, officials are continuously monitoring the import of goods, categorizing them as goods for personal use or goods for business purposes. As previously explained, the criteria for assigning goods to a particular category include cost, weight, and/or quantitative standards.

This article informs you about the list of categories of goods not related to goods for personal use, as approved by the Decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission dated December 20, 2017 No. 107, with amendments through August 19, 2022:

The import of ethyl alcohol and alcoholic beverages with an alcohol concentration exceeding 0.5%, if the total volume exceeds 5 liters per person who has reached the age of 21 years.

The import of tobacco and tobacco products in an amount greater than 200 cigarettes;

The import of games powered by coins, banknotes, bank cards, tokens, or similar means of payment into the customs territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The above-mentioned goods represent the most relevant examples for import; however, an exhaustive list of categories of goods not related to goods for personal use is set out in Appendix No. 6 of the Decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission dated December 20, 2017 No. 107.

Thus, if you intend to cross the border of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is highly recommended that you view the aforementioned list of categories of goods that are not classified as being for personal use, in order to avoid various offenses.
