The Kazakh Khanate and Orakhty Batyr: a bastion of statehood and heroism

This year marks the 560th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate and the 605th anniversary of the birth of Oraqty Batyr. In connection with this, a round table discussion on the topic «The Kazakh Khanate and Orakhty Batyr: a bastion of statehood and heroism» was held at the S. Seifullin Central Library, organized by the Mұkhamejan Tynyshbayuly Regional Museum of History and Local Lore. The purpose of the event was to comprehensively examine the laying of the foundations of statehood during the formation of the khanate, the historical role of the batyrs who fought for the unity of the people, and to revive in the minds of the current generation the significance of the batyr Oraqty in the national heritage.
The round table was attended by representatives of the intelligentsia, historians and local historians, descendants of Orakta Batyr, cultural workers, as well as students of the Department of History and Social and Humanitarian Disciplines of Zhetysu University. The opening speech was delivered by the winner of the Alash International Literary Prize, Honorary Writer of Kazakhstan Amire Arin, who focused on the historical role of prominent figures of the Hunnic and Turkic periods, the era of Genghis Khan and the Golden Horde. Cultural figure Rakhmet Esdauletov spoke about works written about Orakhty Batyr, and journalist and local historian Kazhet Andas presented a report on the “Kazakh-Chinese Agreement of Mamyrsu 1857.” At the meeting, filled with history and edification, the speakers expressed their opinions on little-studied aspects related to the batyr and unresolved issues requiring further research.
