At a solemn meeting in Akorda, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated energy sector specialists on their professional holiday, noting that this year, as part of the Year of Working Professions, special respect is being paid to working people.

– The energy sector is a sector of strategic importance for our country. Without a stable energy source, it is impossible to build a powerful state. Working in the energy sector means contributing to the development of our country. After all, the work you do benefits every family and every person in our country. Providing light and heat to every home is a responsible job. I express my sincere gratitude to all of you for your hard work, - said the Head of State.

The President also emphasized the importance of using resources wisely and called on citizens to approach this issue responsibly.

– Electricity, heat and water are essential goods for life. It is better to save them all and use them wisely. This is a common requirement for the entire economy. Wastefulness cannot be tolerated. It is not for nothing that our people say that “Thrift is the key to prosperity.” We must turn this sacred national habit into a completely new culture in society. Your tireless efforts are an unshakable guarantee of our country’s energy independence. In a fair, clean, and powerful Kazakhstan, working people like you deserve the highest respect, – said the President.

In addition, the Head of State drew attention to the importance of the strategic decision to begin construction of a nuclear power plant.

– The construction of the Balkhash nuclear power plant, followed by the second nuclear power plant, will undoubtedly increase the energy potential of Kazakhstan. This will contribute to the development of new directions in the field of nuclear energy. The appearance of a nuclear power plant on the energy map of Kazakhstan means that the country's economy has moved to a new and qualitative level. The large-scale changes taking place in the world will undoubtedly affect the energy sector. There is a fierce competition for energy sources in the world, and we need to be ready for this. The state will continue to train a new generation of energy specialists and increase the potential of the industry, - said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Head of State emphasized the need to radically modernize the energy sector, emphasizing the development of the country's economy and infrastructure.

– We have opened modern production facilities and entered the era of mass digitalization and artificial intelligence. The International Center for Artificial Intelligence was established in Astana, and a supercomputer built using American technology was recently launched. In line with global trends, new “data centers” are being built and a “cloud” infrastructure is being formed. All this will be a big challenge for the energy sector. Therefore, to implement these important tasks, it is necessary to radically modernize the energy sector, – said the President.
