A New Momentum for Kazakhstan–UK Relations
18.12.2025 17:20:45 512On 18th December 2025, a bilateral meeting was held between Mr. Zhandos Duisembiyev, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Ms. Sally Axworthy, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting marked the first official engagement between the parties in this format and focused on discussing current issues and prospects for further development of Kazakhstan–UK cooperation in the fields of customs and tax administration.
During the talks, the parties noted the high level of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom and emphasized their mutual interest in deepening practical cooperation in priority areas, including the modernization of customs procedures, development of digital solutions, risk management, and strengthening institutional capacity.
Mr. Zhandos Duisembiyev briefed the British side on the key areas of the Committee’s activities, ongoing reforms, and measures being undertaken to improve customs and tax administration, aimed at ensuring transparency, efficiency, and a favorable environment for international trade and investment.
In turn, Ms. Sally Axworthy reaffirmed the readiness of the British side to continue constructive dialogue and exchange of experience, and expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Kazakh partners on issues of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, a Memorandum on improving customs administration was signed, and the parties also expressed confidence that regular dialogue and the development of practical cooperation will contribute to strengthening the partnership between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom.
