On August 9–10, 2025, the Burabay resort area hosted the large-scale international open-water swim X-WATERS KAZAKHSTAN 2025, part of the global X-WATERS series. The main venue of the event was Wyndham Garden Burabay.

The competition was held in one of the most picturesque regions of Kazakhstan, bringing together more than 1,000 participants and over 2,000 spectators. The geography of athletes covered more than 30 cities across Kazakhstan — from Astana and Almaty to Atyrau and Kostanay. Swimmers from Belgium, the United Kingdom, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Russia, Spain, the United States, and several other countries also took part.

Participants ranged in age from 7 to 70+, including both first-time swimmers and highly decorated masters of sport. The prize fund amounted to 2.5 million tenge.

Winners were awarded in each age category, and athletes in the Masters division received the opportunity to obtain official sports titles. The strongest swimmers entered the international X-WATERS TOP-100 ranking.

The event became an important milestone in the development of mass and elite sports, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, the growth of sports tourism, and the strengthening of Kazakhstan’s international reputation.
