The powers of the new Parliament to ensure the functioning of key state institutions were discussed

The fifth meeting of the Working Group on Parliamentary Reform was held in Astana, chaired by State Counselor Yerlan Karin.
At the meeting, Natalia Pan, Director of the Institute of Parliamentarism, shared interim information on the proposals received from citizens, experts and public activists. Since October last year, about 600 proposals have been collected from the public, expert associations and public associations through the special section "Parliamentary Reform" on the e-Otinish and eGov platforms. In particular, the Baitak party, the Zhanaru nationwide anti-corruption movement, the Republican Bar Association, the Toqtamys Bar Association, the International Arbitration and Mediation Chamber, the Parliamentarism Development Fund, the Congress of Tatars and Bashkirs of Kazakhstan, the Institute of Economic Policy, the "Civil Initiative" initiative group and other organizations have expressed their proposals. In addition, legal scholars are actively sending expert recommendations.
The director of the Parliamentarianism Institute also noted that, in addition to parliamentary reform, initiatives are also being received from citizens and public associations regarding constitutional reform.
Deputy Head of the Working Group - Assistant to the President for Legal Affairs Yerzhan Zhienbayev spoke about the general approaches to constitutional procedures governing the participation of Parliament in the formation of the Government, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Audit Chamber, the Central Election Commission and other state bodies. These approaches were developed based on the proposals of the Working Group members and political parties.
Among the members of the working group, Marat Shibutov, Azat Peruashev, Elnur Beisenbayev, Serik Egizbayev, Magerram Magerramov, Aidarbek Kozhanazarov, Marat Bashimov, Nurlan Beknazarov, Indira Aubakirova, Unzila Shapak, Alua Ibraeva, Burikhan Nurmukhamedov, Leyla Zhakaeva, Viktor Malinovsky, Yerlan Sarsembayev, Aidos Sarym, and Karlygash Zhamankulova shared their ideas and suggestions.
At the end of the meeting, the Head of the Working Group, State Counselor Yerlan Karin, instructed to collect and comprehensively study all the received proposals in order to develop final approaches to constitutional reform.
