On 16 January 2026, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, B. Atamkulov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, B. Saidov.

The parties reviewed the outcomes of the recent state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K. Tokayev, to the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as plans for the implementation of the agreements reached and the execution of instructions adopted following the visit.

Ambassador B.Atamkulov emphasized the importance of the decisions adopted at the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the establishment of the Council of Heads of Regions, as well as the creation of working groups on rare earth metals and forecasting of transboundary rivers.

Particular attention was paid to the schedule of events for the current year, including contacts at the highest and high levels, as well as the planned meetings of joint intergovernmental and sectoral cooperation mechanisms.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further deepening the strategic partnership and alliance between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
