In mid-January, the Main Command of the National Guard hosted a billiards tournament among the heads of main directorates, departments, and independent services of the Main Command.

The competition was held in the disciplines of billiards and free pyramid. Matches were played in an elimination format, with players being eliminated after two losses. The rules were straightforward: any ball could be used as the cue ball, and any object ball could be aimed at. The winner was the first player to score eight points. A match could also end due to time constraints—each game was allotted one and a half hours. If the time expired, the player with fewer points was declared the loser.

Servicemen from all subdivisions competed with great enthusiasm, and in the final stage actively supported the finalists.

According to the tournament results, first place was taken by Lieutenant Colonel Olzhas Alibekov, Head of the Service for Organization and Planning of Technical Operation. Second place was awarded to Lieutenant Colonel Erlan Abeldinov, Head of the 4th Department. Third place went to Colonel Kuandyk Kulgazhinov, Deputy Head of a Directorate and Head of the Department for Prevention and Deterrence of Offenses.

Participants were also recognized in special nominations. The “Sniper” certificate was awarded to Colonel Dinmukhamed Myrzatayev, Head of the Directorate for Protection of State Secrets of the Main Command. The certificate “For Best Technique” was presented to Colonel Galymzhan Oserbay, Head of the Military Police Directorate. The “For Will to Win” certificate was awarded to Colonel Azamat Gabdullin, Head of the Directorate of Equipment and Armaments. The “Master” certificate was presented to Colonel Aday Apenov, Head of the Communications Support Center of the Main Command.

The prize winners were awarded medals and certificates by Major General Baurzhan Abzhanov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard.
