A 51-year-old woman was serving a sentence for distributing narcotic drugs and was sentenced by a court to 10 years in prison.                      She arrived at the women's institution of the executive system of the Abai region to serve her sentence.

             Over the years of her stay in the institution, the convict has proven herself on the positive side. She worked diligently in the sewing workshop, showing discipline, responsibility and initiative. The administration of the institution has repeatedly noted her desire for correction, compliance with the established procedure and active participation in labor activities.

             Being in the institution changed not only the convict herself, but also her life. Having no family before her incarceration, she met a man who became her mainstay and support, and eventually her legal spouse. Despite all the difficulties, he visited her regularly, supported her morally and believed in her return to a free life.

             On the day of her release, her husband was by her side again. At the gates of the institution, he met his wife with excitement and joy, for whom this day was the beginning of a new chapter.

              — These years have taught me to appreciate simple things — hard work, honesty and human warmth. I am grateful to the staff of the institution for the opportunity to change and start my life anew. The most important thing is that I am not alone. Today I'm going out to a man who believed in me when I didn't believe in myself," the convict shared.

            This touching moment has become a symbol of hope and proof that even in the most difficult circumstances of life, a person is able to change his path, preserve human values and return to society with faith in a decent future.

             — Our main goal is to provide comprehensive support to convicts, to help them adapt to life in society. Legal and social support for foreign citizens is also an important area of our work. Such stories strengthen the convicts' faith in the future and clearly demonstrate that the path of correction is real," said Akmaral Kairanova, Deputy head of the institution.                              Such stories show the importance of the resocialization of convicts, the role of labor, discipline and support of loved ones in the process of correction and successful adaptation after release.
