Ambassador Beybut Atamkulov met with the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev

On 3 February 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Beibut Atamkulov, and the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation with Afghanistan in the trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, and exchanged views on the implementation of investment projects.
Ambassador B. Atamkulov highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s efforts aimed at facilitating the establishment of long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan, as well as its continued humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people. The Head of the diplomatic mission emphasized the importance of maintaining humanitarian support and the need for the gradual integration of Afghanistan into the region’s trade and economic ties.
Particular note was taken of the effectiveness of the Contact Group of Special Representatives on Afghan issues, the next meeting of which is scheduled to take place in Astana on 16 February this year.
For his part, Special Representative I. Irgashev briefed on the measures undertaken by Uzbekistan to provide humanitarian assistance and economic support to Afghanistan, and shared assessments of the prospects for implementing major projects in the transport and logistics sector and other areas.
The meeting also addressed issues of regional security and stability, and the parties expressed their mutual readiness to further develop Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan cooperation on the Afghan track.
