Kazakhstan and Hungary Strengthen Educational and Regional Cooperation: Ambassador’s Visit to Kecskemét and Karcag

On January 30, 2026, H.E. Abzal Saparbekuly, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Hungary, paid a working visit to the city of Kecskemét at the invitation of John von Neumann University, where he took part in a series of events focused on the development of educational, scientific, and regional cooperation.

Within the framework of the visit to the university, the Ambassador held a meeting with the Rector of the institution, Tamás Fülöp, as well as with members of the university’s leadership and representatives of its International Office. During the talks, the parties thoroughly discussed the university’s priority areas of activity, including educational programs, research initiatives, and prospects for expanding international academic cooperation, including with higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

         As part of the continued visit, Abzal Saparbekuly visited the Kecskemét City Hall, where meetings were held with the Mayor of the city, Klaudia Szemereyné Pataki, as well as with the Deputy Mayor and President of the Bács-Kiskun County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, József Gaál. The parties exchanged views on current issues of bilateral and regional cooperation, emphasized their interest in further developing economic, educational, and business ties, and agreed to maintain regular working contacts.

         On the same day, following the conclusion of events in Kecskemét, the Ambassador traveled to the city of Karcag, where he took part in the inauguration ceremony of the new packaging plant of the Hungarian company AgroSprint. During the official event, Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, delivered a welcoming speech, highlighting the project’s significance for regional economic development and the strengthening of the investment climate.
