Prospects for Cooperation between KazAID and JICA in the Healthcare Sector

On 2 February 2026, a working meeting of medical specialists from Central Asian countries was held in Almaty, including graduates of the JICA training program on endoscopic diagnosis and therapeutics of early-stage gastric cancer. Representatives of the Kazakhstan Agency of International Development “KazAID” took part in the event.

During the meeting, participants became acquainted with the activities of the Kazakh Institute of Oncology and Radiology, as well as the training endoscopy center based at the Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Diseases.

The parties discussed preparations for an international seminar for endoscopists planned for 2026, aimed at developing professional competencies and facilitating practical knowledge exchange among specialists from Central Asian countries. Particular attention was given to sharing Japanese and Kazakhstani experience in the early diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.

The sides confirmed their intention to continue cooperation focused on strengthening medical competencies, enhancing the capacity of healthcare systems in the region, and improving access to modern endoscopic diagnostic and treatment methods.
